How are you? How are you really? Are you starting to feel the walls closing in? Are you starting to get stir crazy or cabin fever? Then try this mental exercise. You can approach this exercise two different ways.

Imagine you are on your Dream Trip

Find a quiet place to sit. Think about bringing a few things into this space with you to help your imagination:

  • a drink that you would find on your trip (e.g., hot chocolate, margarita, etc.)
  • a candle that smells like the area you would be visiting (e.g. beach, garden, pine, etc.)
  • a sound track that may replicate the feeling of your trip (e.g. waves, rain, etc.)

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in that perfect spot on your trip. Imagine what you would be doing there – maybe skiing or sitting on the beach with a book. Start filling in small details: what are you reading, who are you with?

Actually plan your Dream Trip

If you struggle with imagining a trip then why not plan your perfect trip. Pull out some paper and start writing it all down. Maybe even find a trip planner that you can print and start filling it out. This is a Dream Trip so don’t worry about money, just dream it!

Create a Dream Trip Dinner

Another great idea is create a Dream Trip Dinner. Find recipes that fit into the area you would love to visit. Decorate the space to bring in the feel of that magical dinner.

Turn up the air conditioning and have blankets to curl up in while you eat a warm soup and drink hot chocolate like you just came in from skiing. Wear the right clothes too – where a swimsuit and cover up while you eat pulled pork and coconut rice.

Create a Dream Trip Vision Board

Another great exercise that you could try is to make a Trip Vision Board. Cut out pictures and printed images from the internet. Fill a poster board or sheet of paper or a journal.

One of my favorite ways of making vision boards is to use Pinterest. Create a board that is all about your Dream Trip. Start searching for ideas to fill it up.

Where would you go for your Dream Trip?
