We still get basic stations {free!} with a digital box and tv top antenna so we can keep up with local news. Our son watches PBS Kids. Another great option for free movies is your local library! It's so funny because I had a friend in HS that I thought was sooooo weird for not having cable, but now I'm the sooooo weird one and I don't even miss it. We’ve been cable free for 8 or so years.
