This bento is a fun twist on your everyday peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This is a quick and easy way to make a fun school lunch for your kids with things you already have available.  This school lunch would be a great addition to a Peanut Butter and Jelly week theme also.

Supplies:

  • whole wheat bread
  • peanut butter or sunflower butter
  • jam or jelly or honey
  • rolling pin or jar
  • sharp knife
  • vegetable of your choice
  • fruit of you choice
  • silicon cups (optional)
  • small treat (optional)

Peanut Butter Alternatives

You can substitute sunflower butter if peanut butter is not allowed in your school. Zarek’s sandwich was made with peanut butter and Zane’s was made with sunflower butter. You may want to have your kids try sunflower butter before sending it in there lunch. Zane loves sunflower butter, Zarek does not.

Different Lunches for Different Kids

You may notice that I added pretzels in the end for Zane. He is starting to eat more so I wanted to make sure he had a little extra food just in case. Sometimes it takes a little learning to find a good balance for each child on how much food they need in there lunch.  Just watch what comes back each day and see if they are asking right away fro a snack. Check in with them as well, ask if they liked their lunch and if it was enough for them.
