I’m a 41 year old work at home mom. I used to live in NYC. I walked everywhere… everywhere. My job had me walking, living in NYC has you walking, and I was thin. 🙂 Then I moved to Kansas… started driving a car. Then I started working from home and the only walking I did was to my desk 4 feet away. 🙁
When I was 35 I had my daughter. I nursed her for two years and quickly lost the baby weight and was back down to 160. However… when I stopped nursing her I started gaining again. I was almost back up to the weight I was when I GAVE BIRTH. I was tired, exhausted, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t play, I could barely get up the stairs. I was just in terrible shape.
How I lost It
I’d been watching my friend Dani online. She was doing this 90 day challenge (via Body by Vi) and having some really nice results. I talked to her about the challenge and got started. My first 90 day challenge I went from a size 16 to a size 10. I was amazed. I drank two shakes a day, healthy snacks when I was hungry and a sensible dinner with my family. It worked so well I just couldn’t believe it.
My second challenge I added a little exercise and backed down to 1 shake a day, healthy snacks when I was hungry and a sensible lunch and dinner with my family. I maintained… on one shake a day, and healthy choices.
So here I am… just starting my 4th challenge. Still drinking my morning shake, and now drinking a shake post workout to help with recovery. I’ve set a new (and insanely scary goal) for this challenge… I’m training for a 100 mile bike ride on October 20th of THIS year. 🙂 It’s something I’ve always wanted to do… and never thought I’d REALLY be physically able to do… and here I am. DOING it.
What I Have Gained
This has not only changed MY life… it’s changed my family’s life. My daughter watches me work out regularly. She watches me make healthy choices. We talk about health/fitness daily. She’s learning how to have a healthy relationship with food, and her health by watching and doing along with me. That’s more than I could have ever hoped for. That’s my dream.
She’s practicing riding her bike now… so she can join me on my rides. 🙂 It really doesn’t get any better than that.
- Eat when you’re hungry (and make SURE you’re hungry)
- Stop when you’re satisfied.
- Eat what you’re hungry for.
- Enjoy every. single. bite a LOT.
- Make your goals FUN and EXCITING, where “losing weight” is a by product of accomplishing the goal.
