		</p><p>I read that having your children work with clothes pins helps with their scissor skills and since that is one thing that I have been working with Zane on I decide to create this craft.</p>
<p>Creating these lions was so easy even Zarek, at 2 1/2, could help us!</p>
<p>Supplies:</p>
<ul>
<li>plate or card stock</li>
<li>Elmer&#8217;s white glue</li>
<li>craft paper (white, black, light brown) (Cut white eyes, pupils, nose &amp; mouth)</li>
<li>clothes pins</li>
<li>markers (Red, Orange, and Yellow)</li>
</ul>
<p>Step 1: Color the clothes pins with the markers.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="DSCN2985_1_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202465872/"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6176/6202465872_81a096f096_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2985_1_1" width="240" height="192" /></a></p>
<p><a title="DSCN2988_1_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202466142/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6154/6202466142_ed5f5a5e6f_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2988_1_1" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p>Step 2:  Color plate (I trimmed ours as the lip didn&#8217;t work well with the clothes pins) or circle cut from card stock</p>
<p><a title="DSCN2994_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202466284/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6202466284_aeda923d46_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2994_1" width="240" height="192" /></a></p>
<p>Step 3: Glue white of eyes down (Zane went crazy with the glue!</p>
<p><a title="DSCN2995_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201954923/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6014/6201954923_7e4412a462_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2995_1" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p><a title="DSCN2997_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201955137/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6018/6201955137_37accdbb3d_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2997_1" width="240" height="192" /></a></p>
<p>Step 4: Glue pupils down</p>
<p><a title="DSCN2998_2 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201955349/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6124/6201955349_685b7db8f7_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2998_2" width="240" height="192" /></a></p>
<p>Step 5: Glue nose down</p>
<p><a title="DSCN2999_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201955617/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6123/6201955617_fdcda99513_m.jpg" alt="DSCN2999_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p>Step 6: Glue the mouth down</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="DSCN3000_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202467540/"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6175/6202467540_756c4a6863_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3000_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p><a title="DSCN3001_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202467850/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6153/6202467850_d4732a2bb6_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3001_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Step 7 : Let your child place the clothes pins around the outside edge like a main.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="DSCN3002_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201956531/"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6170/6201956531_1fc86108c2_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3002_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="DSCN3003_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201956869/"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6201956869_22c6456afa_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3003_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p><a title="DSCN3004_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6202469788/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6169/6202469788_23de50ed74_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3004_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p>You can let your child play with this over and over.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN3006_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/6201961539/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6149/6201961539_c1acfcf6fd_m.jpg" alt="DSCN3006_1" width="180" height="240" /></a></p>
<p>This was such a fun project and it was really easy. Plus you can get all these items for $10 or less (You can find clothes pins at the dollar store).</p>
<p><strong>Do you have any other crafts or activities that help your preschooler with their scissor skills? </strong><em></em></p>

<p>On this new series, a Craft a Day, you will find five activities that you can enjoy with your kids, one for each day of the week. I will be posting them on Saturdays so that you can use the weekend to get any supplies that you may need.</p>
<p>I will give you five activities that you can enjoy with your kids, one for each day of the week. I will be posting them on Saturdays so that you can use the weekend to get any supplies that you may need.</p>
<p>Now I&#8217;m not supermom and I don&#8217;t expect you to be either, but hopefully you may try one or two of these activities with me and my kids! You don&#8217;t have to do every single one and you don&#8217;t even have to do it this week. I just hope to give a resource for some great fun!</p>
<p>Some weeks I may have a theme and some I may not but either way we are going to have some fun together.</p>
<p>Advent calendars are one of my all time favorite things as a child so this next week is dedicated to them.</p>
<ol>
<li><a href="http://www.makeandtakes.com/quick-and-easy-advent-calendar">Quick &amp; Easy Advent Calendar</a> &#8211; You can either use those neat tree doilies or have your little one cut out a tree. Or if you have a really young child have them paint it. And you will be ready to start your countdown!</li>
<li><a href="http://www.makeandtakes.com/weekend-make-and-takes-advents">Weekend Make and Takes Advents</a> &#8211; I love this chain advent, you could help your child with this by using glue dots and showing them where the rings go. You can do it in the tree form or in a regular chain. Or for older children make it a scavenger hunt and put clues on the links.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.craftbits.com/project/christmas-craft-stick-bookmarks">Christmas Craft Stick Bookmarks</a> &#8211; These could be turned into a fun advent. Help your child make 24 and use them by pulling each one out of a jar as you come closer to Christmas. What do you think, any ideas?</li>
<li><a href="http://www.spelloutloud.com/2009/11/advent-chains-easy-christmas-craft.html">Advent Chains Easy Christmas Craft</a> &#8211; Another chain advent but I love how you learn the true meaning of Christmas with this one!</li>
<li><a href="http://www.positivelysplendid.com/2009/12/december-daily-days-one-and-two.html">Cookie Advent</a> &#8211; This may be my favorite of all. Let your child help you make cookies. Zane love to help me dump measuring cups in and count the items (eggs, cups of sugar, etc). But then you can let them decorate their cookies also. I love it!</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>If you do any of these crafts and happen to take a picture or write a blog post about it please make sure and share your link in the comments. Also don&#8217;t forget to link the original crafter! I may feature you and your blog  on next weeks post!</strong></p>

<p>Welcome back to a new edition of A Craft A Day! If you joined me last week you may have made some cute turkeys with your little ones. I know <a title="Lil Turkeys" href="http://pepperscraps.com/2010/11/lil-turkeys/" target="_blank">we did</a>!</p>
<p>If you are new to A Craft a Day, I will give you five activities that you can enjoy with your kids, one for each day of the week. I will be posting them on Saturdays so that you can use the weekend to get any supplies that you may need.</p>

<li><a href="http://thebirdspapaya.blogspot.com/2010/10/little-pumpkin-turkey.html">Little Pumpkin Turkey</a> &#8211; Your little one can help you make the faces and then you stick in the &#8220;feathers&#8221;. Uses: Kids Centerpiece for Thanksgiving, Daycare gift, Neighbor Gift (this may be what we do) and any other ideas.</li>
<li><a href="http://crafts.kaboose.com/pressed-leaves-placemat.html">Pressed Leaves Placemat</a> &#8211; You can even do this with a 1 year old just lay the contact paper out and let them have fun placing the leaves.</li>

<p>Some weeks I may have a theme and some I may not but either way we are going to have some fun together. We are starting out this month with Turkeys. Gotta love turkeys!</p>

I love advent calendars so we may try this this year. I like the idea of writing what we are thankful for on the feathers. This year I will write them for the boys but maybe later we will have them do it!</li>

You can also do this paint free. Place the leaf on your material (paper, fabric etc) and place wax paper on it and let your kids hammer away on it with a hammer or mallet. You may be surprised at the print. Or you could try <a title="Leaf Rubbings" href="http://creativechicksatplay.blogspot.com/2009/10/leaf-rubbings.html" target="_blank">Leaf Rubbings</a>.</li>

<p>I want to start sharing some of the great and wonderful activities on the internet you can find to do with your kids. The internet is an amazing tool to help you keep your kids busy and help them learn. This is another fun week to join in, so I hope you will!!</p>
<p>This week is all about Halloween. Hope you have a fun, crafty and safe Halloween! And don&#8217;t forget to share what your little ones are going to be for halloween!!</p>

		</p><p style="text-align: center;"><img class="alignnone" title="Pumpkin Painting" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/5089575029_724db9f985.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="309" /></p>
<p>We went to the dentist for the first time this week. One of the fun little things they had for the boys was a beanbag toss where they won little pumpkins!</p>
<p>So this week I pulled out some paint brushes and paint and let the boys paint them.</p>
<p>I took a food tray from the store and placed them under the pumpkins or you could use newspaper if you want.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030684 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5085093734/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/5085093734_d2ef965c7c.jpg" alt="P1030684" width="375" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>I highly recommend non-toxic paint for your little ones because as you can see Zarek thought we were eating at first. But he got the hang of it. But he did still try each color every time I turned my back.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030688 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5084503207/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/5084503207_b2a85229b4.jpg" alt="P1030688" width="375" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>And as you can see he loved this so much he decided to paint his hand too!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030690 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5084507291/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/5084507291_980fef447c.jpg" alt="P1030690" width="375" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Zane loved painting his, almost a little too much, his pumpkin took a full day to dry.</p>
<p>This is a fun and easy and safe way for the boys to decorate their pumpkins. How did your pumpkins turn out this year? How do you decorate them?</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">I created this wreath today I got everything I needed from the Dollar Tree. For everything it cost $7. Here are the supplies you would need to make this:</p>
<ul>
<li>$1 Wreath</li>
<li>$1 to $5 Bundles of flowers (I used 4)</li>
<li>$1 Wood Sign</li>
<li>$1 Wreath Hanger</li>
<li>Hot Glue Gun &amp; Glue</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Instructions &gt;&gt;</strong><span id="more-1530"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030694 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5085111122/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/5085111122_a94968f0a8_m.jpg" alt="P1030694" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Start with a wreath.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030695 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5085113050/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/5085113050_724ac38efc_m.jpg" alt="P1030695" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">My Wood Sign had a wire to hang it so I just wired it on, you could also glue it on.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030697 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5085115094/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4110/5085115094_122f627b47_m.jpg" alt="P1030697" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Pop all the flowers off the stems.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030698 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5084521901/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4128/5084521901_a026aa5c9e_m.jpg" alt="P1030698" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Strategically place your flowers in bunches of 3 or 5. You can either leave it like this or&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030700 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5084525377/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5084525377_be267b9993_m.jpg" alt="P1030700" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&#8230; fill in the rest of the blank areas with your flowers.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="P1030705 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5084532613/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/5084532613_da71c6fa1b.jpg" alt="P1030705" width="375" height="500" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">And you will end up with something like this.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">(Of course mine is hung up with ribbon because I forgot to buy my hanger. Next Dollar Tree stop.)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I hope you enjoyed this crafty tutorial. Have you ever made your own wreath? Do you hang wreaths for any season but Christmas?</p>
