		</p><p>I was torn this week, did I want to do eggs or elephants. I decided to go with eggs because there were so many great egg crafts but no elephant crafts. If you know any good elephant crafts please send them my way for the next time we do E.</p>
<h2>If you are new to A Craft a Day</h2>
<p>A Craft a Day gives you five activities that you can enjoy with your kids, one for each day of the week.  Most of these activities work well for preschoolers, but you may be able to adapt them for your toddler. If you want to learn more about the basics of A Craft A Day you can find them at <a href="http://pepperscraps.com/2011/05/a-craft-a-day-coming-back-soon/">a Craft a Day: Coming Back Soon</a>. I will post the crafts on Saturdays so you can use the weekend to get any supplies that you may need. We are making our way through the alphabet this year so if you missed a you can <a title="A is for Apple" href="http://PepperScraps.com/2011/06/a-craft-a-day-a-is-for-apple">find it here</a>.</p>
<h2>Are you Supermom?</h2>
<p>Now I’m not supermom and I don’t expect you to be either. We don’t always get to each activity, sometimes life is just too busy. Hopefully you may try one or two of these activities with me and my kids! <strong>You don’t have to do every single one.</strong> You don’t have to be doing preschool with your child. I just hope to give you a resource for some great fun with your kids!</p>
<h2>The Crafts:</h2>
<ul>
<li><a title="Chickie Eggs" href="http://justjennrecipes.com/chickie-eggs/2010/03/30/" target="_blank">Chickie Eggs</a> &#8211; These were cute and almost too easy. Zane loved putting them together I don&#8217;t know how his ended up with a frowny face but it was pretty funny. (Make sure and keep the shells for the other projects.)</li>
<p><a title="DSCN1036_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5891065340/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6011/5891065340_127910d519_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1036_1" width="240" height="171" /></a></p>
<li><a title="Earth Mosaics" href="http://childhood101.com/2011/05/kids-art-clay-and-egg-shell-mosaic/" target="_blank">Earth Mosaics</a> &#8211; This was a great project for bible day. The boys colored pictures in the morning and we talked about how God made the heavens and the earth. Then in the afternoon we made our earth project. This is definitely a keepsake project.</li>
<p><a title="earth project by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889458309/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5120/5889458309_7609503394_m.jpg" alt="earth project" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<li><a title="More Mosaics" href="http://www.kckpl.lib.ks.us/kids/Crafts.aspx?v=nf&amp;cid=2&amp;pid=35" target="_blank">More Mosaics</a> &#8211; You can do this project in addition to the Earth Mosaic project or if you don&#8217;t have or want to deal with clay you do this project instead.</li>
<li><a title="Egg Geodes" href="http://www.marthastewart.com/343344/crystal-egg-geodes" target="_blank">Egg Geodes</a> &#8211; We tried this science experiment but for us it failed. If you have any luck getting the crystals to grow please let me know!!</li>
<li><a title="Egg Planter" href="http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/egg-planter-662036/" target="_blank">Egg Planters</a> &#8211; We had some extra grass seed in our garage and I hope the grass will grow in time for the letter G! Or maybe I hope to keep the grass alive for the letter G.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Supplies</strong>: eggs, carrots, black sesame seeds or food markers or sprinkles, clay, egg shells, food color, vinegar, Elmer&#8217;s Glue, alum, paint brush, glass or plastic container, hot water, grass seed, potting soil, paint</p>
<h2>Be Featured</h2>
<p>If you do any of these crafts and happen to take a picture or write a blog post about it please make sure and share your link in the comments. Also don’t forget to link the original crafter! I may feature you and your blog  on the following weeks post!</p>

		</p><p>I love doing mosaics! The best things about mosaics are they don&#8217;t have to be perfect and they can be made into anything!</p>
<p>I wanted to do a Bible based craft project for the letter E, but there are not very many things that work for the letter E.</p>
<p>After looking online for a while I found my options were Eagles (but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; &#8230;  Isaiah 40:31<strong>)</strong> or Earth (&#8220;In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.&#8221;  Genesis 1:1).</p>
<p>I chose Earth because we have done Eagles before and the craft options are kind of boring. Earth really didn&#8217;t have too many options, so I made our own. I had already found lots of crafts using egg shells and I had some old Fimo clay to use up! We made Earth mosaics from eggshells and Fimo.</p>
<p>Supplies:</p>
<ul>
<li>Eggshells</li>
<li>Food Coloring</li>
<li>Vinegar</li>
<li>Clay or Fimo</li>
</ul>
<p>Step 1: Dye the peeled shells in food dye, 1 cup water, and a tablespoon of vinegar. Make sure and pull them out and dry them before the project.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1043_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5890018600/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5271/5890018600_afe78027d2_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1043_1" width="240" height="171" /></a></p>
<p>Step 2: Cut circles out of clay (Find a large glass or round bowl to use as a cookie cutter.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1045_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889452245/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5160/5889452245_fb8f7ce9dd_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1045_1" width="240" height="171" /></a></p>
<p>Step 3: Now the fun part push the pieces of shell into the clay.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1051_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889452939/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5111/5889452939_b92faf3a66_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1051_1" width="240" height="172" /></a></p>
<p>Even little hands can do this project!</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1052_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889453577/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/5889453577_4fa3c56ba4_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1052_1" width="240" height="171" /></a></p>
<p>Press it in pretty firmly!</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1055_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5890023192/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5077/5890023192_e9d1206b92_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1055_1" width="240" height="172" /></a></p>
<p>Step 4: Dry your clay according to the directions. Mine needed to be baked.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1057_1 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889456447/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5320/5889456447_21a1d5d982_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1057_1" width="240" height="171" /></a></p>
<p><a title="earth in the stove by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889457205/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5279/5889457205_40a81955d4_m.jpg" alt="earth in the stove" width="240" height="172" /></a></p>
<p>Step 5: Brush off any extra shell that didn&#8217;t stick. Now you have a lovely mosaic Earth.</p>
<p><a title="earth project by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5889458309/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5120/5889458309_7609503394_m.jpg" alt="earth project" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p>Step 5: (Optional) This is a wonderful keepsake craft. I flipped ours over and wrote the boys names on them and the date.</p>
<p><a title="DSCN1061 by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/5890017634/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5314/5890017634_d099afae18_m.jpg" alt="DSCN1061" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p>I hope you enjoyed this craft. I know my boys did and I&#8217;m sure your little ones will too!</p>

		</p><p>One of my favorite techniques to create great easter eggs is using tape. You can use scotch tape, packing tape, painters tape, etc.  I wouldn&#8217;t recommend double sided tape, I know from experience. LOL</p>
<p>Supplies:</p>
<ul>
<li>Tape</li>
<li>Hard boiled eggs</li>
<li>Egg Dye (we used Paas tablets they are just so easy)</li>
</ul>
<p>Directions:</p>
<p>Tape your egg (I used packing tape)</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs - Taped by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482900246/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4482900246_4fd14f5313.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs - Taped" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>Drop your egg into the dye</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs in the Dye by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482902570/"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2749/4482902570_92b9760411.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs in the Dye" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>Take out of the dye after 10-15 minutes</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs - Out of the Dye by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482255269/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4069/4482255269_a4817b236c.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs - Out of the Dye" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>Take the tape off very carefully</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs - Unwrapped by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482257603/"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2795/4482257603_94ac77dfb4.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs - Unwrapped" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>Dump into a new color or you can do this before taping to get a different effect or you can leave it with the white.</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs - Dunk Again by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482909712/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/4482909712_44fecaa7ac.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs - Dunk Again" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>Finished Egg</p>
<p><a title="Tape Eggs - Final image by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482262215/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/4482262215_896b4a64fa.jpg" alt="Tape Eggs - Final image" width="400" /></a></p>
<p>You will get different effect with different kinds of tape, how much you smooth out the bumps or not, how many times you change out the tape, if you cover the egg completely in tape or in stripes, and/or change colors and how long you leave it in the dyes.</p>
<p><a title="Pretty Papertowels by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482270267/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/4482270267_5a247bfdd4_m.jpg" alt="Pretty Papertowels" width="240" height="180" /></a><a title="Pretty Egg Shells by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482897984/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4482897984_952840e618_m.jpg" alt="Pretty Egg Shells" width="240" height="180" /></a></p>
<p>Here are my left overs from my dyeing. I have great plans for even my paper towels and my shells:</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to save the eggshells as we make egg salad sandwiches (yummy!) in a baggy and make this craft: <a title="Crushed Egg Shells" href="http://www.makeandtakes.com/crushed-egg-shells" target="_blank">Eggshell Pictures from Make and Takes</a></p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to modify this craft and use my dyed paper towels and use up my dye creating <a title="coffee filter buttersflies" href="http://crafts.kaboose.com/butterfly1.html" target="_blank">&#8220;paper towel&#8221; butterflies</a>.</p>

<p>Today we got to do our traditional egg dying! I was very happy we were able to do it this year, since for some reason I&#8217;m working full time this week and I&#8217;m trying to catch up from being sick. It was fun to have some family time even if it was a little stressful to pull everything together quickly.</p>
<p>This year Zane was very into the egg dying. Last year I dyed them for him and he got to put stickers on them. This year he got to pick the eggs colors and loved watching Daddy drop them in the colors. Zarek just sat back and watched. We had a snack while we watched the eggs soak. Zarek loved the snack. LOL</p>
<p>I let Zarek look at an egg before it was dyed, for a photo more than anything. He picked it up and threw it to the ground. That&#8217;s what he thought of that. I gave him the memory game from the Paas pack and he liked playing with the small pieces of cardboard for a little while. I didn&#8217;t get any photos of him with the dyed eggs since he decided he wanted to go take a nap before they were dry.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="Zarek checking out his egg by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482180301/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4047/4482180301_51f09d5b6c.jpg" alt="Zarek checking out his egg" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>Zane got to put stickers on the eggs again this year and loved it. He liked it so much that when he found a plastic egg in the house with foam stickers he stuck the stickers all over the egg. He did a really good job all on his own.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="Great Job! by unicornbeauty, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaney/4482922672/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2775/4482922672_285652bbf4.jpg" alt="Great Job!" width="400" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Tomorrow I will show you my favorite egg dying technique. Or if you check out my flickr feed you can get the basic idea.</p>
