The morning I took this picture I had planned on a PJs day. Just rest and relax don’t worry about getting me or the boys dressed. I just didn’t feel up to it, I was in a slump.

I have been having a hard week with my mother’s illness and not being able to be right there for her. It’s been a hard week with the boys. And so I just haven’t been feeling happy, pretty much have been depressed.

But around noontime I realized I had plans for the day. I was to get together with the ladies from my bible study and enjoy their company. I suddenly had to get showered and beautified. I rushed around the house finding an okay outfit (hemming my own pair of pants for the first time), making my hair look half decent, and putting on some makeup (more than just my BareMinerals).

What did I realize after I got on my clothes and makeup. I felt better. I was almost all the way out of my slump. I felt energized and rejuvenated. I felt pretty.

So if you are feeling like you are just not up to get ready for the day. Or if you are just not one to put on makeup if you are just going to be around the house. Do it anyways. You will be amazed at how nice clothes and a little makeup makes you feel.

It’s that time of year when you go out in search of the perfect pumpkins. Well I am lucky I have three perfect little pumpkins at home. But we were a little unlucky with our bills this last month and were very tight on money. It’s amazing the meals you can figure pull out of a bare pantry when you are worrying about it 24/7.

We had an offer to go and get pumpkins free this years from a family friend, but trying to find the time between work, TJ’s work and Zane’s two year old crankiness was going to be near impossible. And since money was short I was sure that we would not get pumpkins this year. Which I know Zane and Zarek would not remember not getting pumpkins and they wouldn’t feel like they were missing out, but I wanted to do it for them.

One huge blessing this week was from one of our patients and a friend of my co-workers. She came by with her truck with the back filled with the most perfect pumpkins I’d had ever seen. She let me have as many as I wanted. I was so excited. I was able to have pumpkins for the boys. God is so good, he knew my hearts desire and He found a way.

We got four pumpkins. Zane painted his, Zarek got to footprint his, Zane designed mine (with directions), and TJ carved his. Here are some fun pictures of the evening…

Today Zane turned 15 months old. Every month I send out an email to our friends and family with the pictures of the month and some new fun facts about what he is learning. So I have decided I will add a new feature here also. Here are some fun facts, picture and more about Zane at 15 Months Old.

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

• Plays with ball
• Uses three words regularly
• Walks backward

• Zane loves pushing the ball back and forth and we have just started to learn to catch the ball.
• I can think of at least a dozen words Zane can say off the top of my head.
• Zane has pretty much mastered anything considered walking. The hardest thing is to get him to go backwards down the stairs, he wants to do it the way we do it.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)
• Scribbles with a crayon
• Runs
• Adopts “no” as his favorite word

• Just the other day TJ watched Zane pull a pen and notebook out of my purse. He opened the book to an empty page and started drawing. He really enjoys scribbling.
• Zane has been running as soon as he could walk.
• Zane hasn’t started saying “no”, but I don’t think this is a bad milestone to miss.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)
• “Helps” around the house
• Puts his fingers to his mouth and says “shhh”

• Zane is his Granny’s boy. He loves to sweep. He loves to use his washcloths to clean his highchair after a meal.
• He doesn’t “shh” us but then we don’t do this to him.
