My Favorite Post This Week

I was visiting the new SITS Girls Forum and was enjoying a forum post about everyone’s favorite posts for January when I came upon Designer Wife’s great post: Measuring Happiness. She talked about a great quote for Kant:

Kant said that we require three things by which to measure happiness: someone to love, something we like to do, and something to look forward to.

Lindsey then decided to use Kant’s philosophy to put her happiness into perspective and I loved this and wanted to do it also!

1. Someone to Love:

God, my husband, and my children!

2. Something we like to do:

Graphic Design – Working on my business has been so great! I love that I’m doing something that I enjoy so much!
Blogging – I’ve really been enjoying blogging more this year now that I’ve let go of the thought that every post has to be perfect. Perfection is stressful!
Faith – (I’m stealing this one from Lindsey) The last year has been a big year for me growing closer to God and that of course has brought so much happiness in my life. I’ve been enjoying our new church soo much. I have loved getting involved with the women’s ministries and making really amazing friends.

3. Something to Look Forward to

Starting to work on losing weight! I’m really excited about this next step in my life and making the changes to make myself happier with me.

Theta hit the nail on the head with this post! This is always a good reminder for us mommy’s that no matter how much we feel alone there are other mother’s going through the same struggles. This is a good reminder for me today as I feel frustrated and tired. I hope this is a good reminder to you also and encourages you through your day or week!

Every year I think about having a valentine’s day party for my friends but usually too late. I have been able to do it once in the past and I loved it. This year, again I am hoping to do one.

As I was surfing I ran into this great post and it was truly inspiring with all the fun crafts we could do.

Letter Lessons Recap 2010

Kari is one of my friends from church and I love her blog. Every time she writes I am just filled with inspiration. Just today I was scolding myself for not doing more preschool stuff with Zane as I had hoped this last year. Now I am inspired and excited about the prospects of these lessons. Bible Lessons are also one area I have been struggling with. Most lessons I have found online are really sporadic and hard to find and when you do find one it’s either too simple or too hard.

I’m very excited she might send me her letter lessons!

What’s funny is the last two months I have been meaning to ask her about Bible verse memorization she does with her son. She has shown off some of the fun “actions” she adds to the verses to help her son memorize them when she has spoken at Bible Study and they look like so much fun.

Baby Sock Advent Calendar – I love this idea! We have an advent, but I almost wish we didn’t so I could do this!
Lolly Chessies Famous Cp Christmas Trees – This is such an easy decorating idea. May even be fun to have your friends over to do a craft together.
Make Chalkboard Chargers – I would love to do this. Make some great chargers for entertaining any season. Too bad we don’t do dinner parties. I wonder how I can use this for non-dinner party entertaining. Any Ideas?
Advent Wreath – Christmas means – I was thinking about making wreaths for my friends this year. I usually do ornaments but with this idea I may have to def do wreaths!
Prek-letter-j – What an amazing, amazing site I’m so excited about finding this blog!
Handmade Presents for Women Christmas Gift Guide Series – I’m a huge handmade gift person, so here is a great list to add to your projects for your friends and family!

The Power of Not Giving Up – One Blogger’s Story – Great guest post over at Problogger.net (Happy Birthday!). I am constantly struggling with my blogging and the feeling like I’m failing. But this blog is just for me so I don’t stress numbers, but my new blog I’m feeling uninspired and unappreciated. This post gave me a little boost in motivation. Just keep trying.
Colored Pencils Shelf - Just a wonderful project idea! Imagine the possibilities!
Embroidered Christmas Cards – What a creative idea – at first I thought they had actually did all those by hand. LOL
