One of your best tools for healthy eating and fitness can be right in your hand, your Android phone! Here are 12 of the best free android apps for healthy eating, food tracking, exercise tracking, workouts and more.
Calorie Counter – MyFitnessPal
This is a great app to log your food, track your activity, and also get motivation from others. MFP has the largest database of food in any app. Also you can scan barcodes on your packages to add it to your log.
Food Planner
One of the best ways to make sure you and your family are eating healthy is by planning your meals. But it can be one of the hardest. Food Planner can really help you by letting plan your meals, download recipes from online, and make shopping lists.
Fooducate – Healthy Food Diet
If you are just starting out on your “healthy you journey” and would like to start learning more about the foods you are eating then this is the app for you. Learn about your favorite foods and what the healthier option may be. I love that they recently added a feature to help you watch out for extra sugar in your food.
Drinking Water
One of the quickest and easiest ways to start working on a getting healthy goal is start drinking your water! This is a very simple app that will help you remember to drink your 64 ounces water.
Fitbit
This app actually works in conjunction with the FitBit activity tracker. You can read my review of the FitBit One. This app is great for tracking activity, sleep, and food. But also it will sync with the MFP app also.
C25K Couch to 5K by RunDouble
If you are looking into starting to run you may want to look into a Couch to 5K program. This is a full featured trial but you will have to buy the full program (about $2) after the second week.
RunKeeper – GPS Track Run Walk
I’m not a runner, but here is my friend who is: “I like RunKeeper because you can log you activity manually if you are working out in the gym instead of outside. Plus, it has TONS of workouts you can use some of which are training plans.” – Tina from Mad Hatter Mom
Nike Training Club
Download great training programs from Nike’s Training app. You can choose your workout, look through it to make sure you know the moves, start your music and get moving. You can then earn rewards – which include exclusive workouts.
Sworkit Lite
Sworkit is all about circuit training workouts. What’s great about it is you can enter what part of your body you want to workout and how much time you have. Only have 10 minutes that’s okay! Or you can even build your own workouts.
Daily Workouts FREE
Daily Workouts was one of the first fitness apps that I downloaded. This is such a simple app, but effective. You get 5 different kinds of workouts (abs, cardio, etc) and then you choose how much time you have. This app has a video for each workout.
Daily Ab Workout FREE
If you are really just focusing on part of your body – like working on getting a six pack . Then you can download each Daily workout separately.
Simply Yoga FREE
One of the workouts not in the included Daily Workouts App is Simply Yoga. 30+ poses that you can through in 20, 40 or 60 minutes. Audio instructions lead you through each pose. Great way to fit some yoga into your day.
