I am totally on your side about the niche blogging. It obviously has it’s place, but I don’t think that you have to stick to a specific niche to become successful. Few people separate out their lives so much that it is all about one thing, why should a blog? Maybe it’s the niche of ‘Life’.
Some of my favorite blogs are the ones that are personable and give me a true sense of the writer. They have write about some specific topics I’m interested in, but it’s not just about those topics. It’s about life. 🙂
Keep it up, Pepper! You are one of the bloggers that is slowly inspiring me to write more on my own blog. Maybe one day I will actually consider myself a real blogger and not just ‘dabbling’ in it. 🙂
Thank you Diana! I’m glad that I inspire you. I’ve been surprised at the outcome of this post, I have never been so encourage to keep going on my blog as now!
Hi Pepper,
It’s so interesting how things change when we try to “name” them. When I think of niche blog, I think of a small site devoted to one topic that has been created to make money on a certain product.
When I think of “blog” I think of a bigger site, where the author quite obviously LOVES what they talk about and would do it whether they make money or not… so don’t become a niche blogger lol. 🙂
I think you don’t need a “niche” as much as you need a clear idea of your “reader”. Your blog will speak to certain people and not so much to others… it’s the PEOPLE you’re trying to reach and connect with… so the topics are not as important as the fact that you’re connecting with a certain group of people. Which you do so well.
It’s an interesting conversation for sure…
Your so right Jackie, I think instead of spending so much time and energy on worrying about not having a niche I need to sit down and look at who is it that I’m talking to and helping. Who is my ideal reader. I’m glad to here you think I’m connecting at times I just don’t feel like I am.
Spot on girl!! 😉
Pepper, you are all giving me so much perspective on internet blogging. You are encouraging and insightful.

excellent video. I struggled with this for a long time since I kept hearing niche, niche, niche — but that really isn’t my style and it would have felt forced. Glad to hear your thoughts on the issue.
You took the google approach, make a business or service and do not worry about making cash, after it takes off then take a look at it and see if there is any way to make some money from it! If it works for the most successful company of modern times then it should have some scope to work for other people too!
Hi,
Pepper your blog is about what you choose to speak on. You started this blog several years ago and to see that you are still here I find amazing! I understand your frustration the people who point to making money online as the only reason to have a blog are not the people you want to connect with so they don’t matter.
Keep writing you will find those who you can connect with.
Have a Great One,
Arnita
