Time to start thinking about back to school! We are starting to test out some after school snacks. We are taste testing some new foods to add to our list of snacks that I can make for the boys when they get home from school. I’m playing around making some new fun recipes to have some special options for them. I was very excited to get a chance from #CollectiveBias to make #AfterSchoolSnacks that are fun and new with Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos!
My boys have never tried Bagel Bites, so I wanted to try them out before school started. Today was the perfect day as they were just getting back from a three day trip to the beach with their Granny. They were gone all day and would be coming home ravenous!
I ran over to our local Walmart Neighborhood Market to grab up my ingredients. I loved when they put this store in because it is right down the road, I get Walmart prices, and they went into a building that was always empty. If you haven’t stopped by any of the new Markets you really should check them out, I love ours.
One of the best ways I have been able to get my boys to try new foods and expand their snack options is making the food so fun they jump at trying it out. Today we got to do that with these cute Bagel Bites Owls sitting on a Delimex Taquito branch! Did you know Bagel Bites are made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat?
The school mascot at my sons’ school is an owl so I knew they were going to love these! They will be perfect for after school!
For these snacks you will need a carrot or a slice of cheese, olives, Bagel Bites, and Delimex Taquitos. You can either gather the food and let your kids build their own owls or you can build them before they get home from school.
You can either use cheese or carrots to make the feet and beaks for your owls. Here is how mine turned out, don’t worry if they are not perfect, your kids will love them no matter what. Honestly kids just love having fun snacks!
This is such a quick snack, I promise. Just cook up the Bagel Bites and the Delimex taquito following the directions on the box. Lay a taquito down on the plate then place three bagels in a row right above it. Place the olive eyes, beaks, and feet. That is it, even if your not super crafty you can do this.
The feet and the branch are optional. Your owl will turn out just as cute with the eyes and beak. You can see all the ways your little owls can turn out in the picture above. I think they are all adorable, don’t you?
I even made a video to show you how I cut out each piece and how I built my owls.
