P52: Past N Present

I was hoping to do a full body shot this week to use for my pre-weight loss photo but hubby put my tripod somewhere and it’s pretty hard to do a full photo of yourself without one. So I pulled out a photo from our beach trip this last week and found two shots from the past that matched and made a collage.

You have a full week to link up with us. There are only two rules:

  1. You should share a recently taken self-portrait

P52: Green

As I was trying to get my shot I realized my limitations with my broken camera. So I pulled out my Galaxy Tab to try and use one of great camera apps out there.

I used the android app Vignette the demo version to do my photos this week. I actually have two photos this week.

My first photo I used the Highlight Green filter. Which created a black and white photo highlighting the green. I did then use Picnik to intensify the green.

Green1

The second photo I used the Toy Camera Cross Processing Filter. I only used Picnik to crop this picture.

Green2

Obviously both these images are pretty small I suspect this may be because I am using the demo version. This may be one of the first apps I buy for my tab, the option choices with this app are pretty amazing.

Basics Of TweetDeck

For a long time I was a diehard member of HootSuite, but when they switched over to a paying system I decided to migrate back to TweetDeck. I’m glad I did they had done some updating and I was very happy with their new program than in the past.

What is TweetDeck?

TweetDeck is basically a program you download to help you manage your twitter feeds.

TweetDeck is your personal browser for staying in touch with what’s happening now, connecting you with your contacts across Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and more. – About Section on tweetdeck.com

TweetDeck is great for a beginner or for the advanced Twitter user.

9 Awesome Features

  1. Follow Twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts in one place.
  2. Post to multiple social networks at one time (ie. Facebook and Twitter)
  3. Use TweetDeck on your Computer, Phone (iPhone or Android), your tablet(iPad or Android) , or on your Chrome Browser (which is new to me!)
  4. Watch what is happening in multiple columns (@You, DM, hashtag searches, and searches for words or conversations)
  5. Schedule Tweets for the future
  6. Share Photos and Video straight from TweetDeck
  7. Group your friends and don’t loose their tweets in your feed
  8. Automatic URL shortening
  9. RT and add your own thoughts or comments

How to Get TweetDeck?

It is so easy! Visit TweeDeck.com and choose the way you want to use it on your computer: Desktop or Chrome. Click the download button, sign up for an account, and start connecting your social media accts. TweetDeck will walk you through each step of the process.

How to Party with TweetDeck?

One reason I wrote this post was to help some ladies that are going to be joining me for a twitter party. A quick way to setup your columns for the party:

Click the little + icon on the top right of your desktop TweetDeck and search for the Hashtag.

Click Search and you will have a new column to follow the party with.

You can also add columns for the hosts/hostesses of the party so you can see their feed quickly and easily.

I hope this helps you getting started with TweetDeck. Feel free and ask me more questions.

Project 52: Hidden

Well, my camera is broken more than I thought. We went to play group and that’s when I figured it out, my focus doesn’t work and my flash is gone also.  I can kind of take photos but not the best. Now I’m in the market for a new camera.

Hubby was sweet he offered to buy me a DSLR but then when he found out the price he said I could have a DSLR or we could get the new mattress we have been needing forever. I chose the mattress.

This weeks theme was hidden, I had a few shots to take from this theme, but nothing great due to the no focus issue. But the one that I ended up liking the best was this one which is more of a twist, it’s more of hiding in the shadows.

Comment Cocktail Hour: The Aftermath

Some of you lovely ladies may be wondering what happened with the Comment Cocktail Hour last Wednesday. Well, we were all set, things were flowing smoothly in the chat as people came popping up as they were signing in. Then it happened, it all crashed.

First, people suddenly were being tossed into the shadows and then the chat all came tumbling down around us as the site crashed.

Yep, you ladies crashed SITS! Can you believe it?

Then the scramble started. We quickly ran over to twitter. I had half mentioned Twitter to Jenny, that we should have a back up plan and we should choose a twitter hash tag. Luckily Jenny got word that the @SITSgirls had gotten some people together under the hashtag #cocktail.

We slowly rallied people there, as Jenny encouraged people to keep joining up with the group and helped with some of the mayhem, I quickly wrote a note in the forum to try and help more people find there way. Little did I know some of you may not even been able to get to the forum as the whole site had crashed not just the

I know that you could tell we were scrambling like mad ladies trying to figure out how to get twitter to work the same way we had planned to get the chat to work.

Jenny and I had luckily had google chat open to be able to “talk” while the show was going so we were still connected even with the crash.

Jenny started out our “tutorial” we had created to show you how the plan would work, while I took our master list of names and links and tried to figure out who had made it to twitter.

I was trying to match names or URLs to twitter handles and highlight them on the list for Jenny to be able to call. Jenny realized that I was a quicker typist and we switched roles, she started calling out names and I started calling the links.

There would be long pauses when we would go through the list looking for the next link and have 5 to 10 people missing, which isn’t surprising with the sudden change in venue. Some people were begging for the next link and we were desperately looking for that next link.

We hit our first hour and had only made it through a few links, so we asked if the ladies were willing to hang out and keep commenting. We moved onto a second hour of links. Slowly people had to leave and then the evening came to the end. We had called out 35+ links!

What an amazing evening and so much fun. We are excited to try it again, we hope you are too.

We have talked to the very lovely SITSgirls and have been trying to figure out how to move the chat to twitter. For a chat system that would work on the SITS site we would be looking at a month or so to get it set up, so instead we are moving to twitter.

We are hoping to have all kinds of great information on how the chat will work. Also we will be sharing how to use twitter for any new tweeters out there.

Stay tuned Tuesday, the new Comment Cocktail Hour post will be up at SITS and be ready for some great fun. While you wait we would love to hear your feedback on CCH.
