I’m so excited about Christmas coming up. I keep thinking, “Oo, I need to start pulling out the Christmas decor.” But then I realize we haven’t even celebrate Thanksgiving. I want to be able to take time and enjoy Thanksgiving.
This Christmas is going to be a fun year with Zane. He is more aware of things now and we will be able to start making some family traditions and next year he will remember them.
So December I will be posting about some of the traditions I am excited about and making a point of doing this year. I will posting a new one every week. Some of the traditions I am really, really excited about this year are doing an advent calendar, hosting a cookie party, making ornaments for friends, and the Elf on the Shelf (which I may pull out right after thanksgiving!).
I want to invite you to join me in posting your holiday traditions, so if you are interested in joining me next month please leave a comment.
What are your favorite traditions? Do your children get excited about these traditions?
Hello Pepper! This is the first Christmas that our little guy will kind of sort of notice what is going on…so I am most excited to put the Christmas tree up! I don’t think we’ll do the bulb thing though, he is already trying to steal them from our chiropractors office tree! 🙂 You have a beautiful family and blog! I am now subscribing from MBC, hope to see you at http://luvsjurn3.blogspot.com soon!
The first year with my son I tucked the lights deep into the tree or made them really high so they were out of reach. The second year I cheated we had our tree on a small side table so it was up high. LOL
Don’t forget your puppy may want to christen your tree too. 🙂 Do you have a fake tree or real. If you get a real tree or if you fake doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling you should consider putting it on a small table. This has worked for us in the past and it is cheaper if you buy a tree b/c you are purchasing a smaller tree yet it is still grandiose. 🙂
I’m so excited to get ready for Christmas! Last night I took the kids to the craft store to get a bunch of different things to make lots of fun crafts during December. I love decorating the tree with the kids, hate taking it down, so tedious!
I can’t wait till I can do more crafting with my boys. I always create ornaments for our close friends every year and I am hoping to do this Zane soon. I may wait till next year. We also craft gifts for our friends and make food items. What kind of crafts do you do?
Hi Pepper – I also love Christmas. My favorite holiday. I plan to do my decorating this weekend, maybe even on Friday. My son is 14 so that is not a concern.
My problem this year is my 8 months old American Bulldog. She is in the chewing stage, and will eat anything that catches her eye. I’m not sure if I can even do a tree this year. Maybe I’ll put it downstairs in the rec-room. A place that is off limits to little Princess. LOL!
That’s a great idea – except that my “puppy” is already 60lbs, and when she stands on her back legs, she reaches my shoulders, LOL!
